Severe Harassment Issue

I've just cancelled my account because I'm tired of random people whom I do not know harrassing me.

Why would a complete stranger say something like this to me. The worst part is Blizzard wont even answer you phone call to talk about it. When it comes time to get paid though, there's no wait. I assume I'll get a generalized response in regard to this verbal assault.

People need to be held accountable for what they do behind the security blanket of their computer screen. This is NOT okay, and if I can, I'll make sure someone is punished.

Hello Wilkes!

First, I want to reassure you that we do indeed take situations of this nature quite seriously. I feel as though I should explain some things to help set up appropriate expectations regarding how we'll handle the situation, so you know what to expect moving forward.

I can see that you've already submitted an in-game petition including all the appropriate information, so you're on the right track. Our Account Services staff are available via telephone, but they would not be in a position to address a report of this nature.

Our staff will definitely investigate this situation, and take appropriate action regarding all participating parties according to our policies (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=20309). As you noted, you will indeed receive a 'generalized' reply in response to your report - this does not mean that your report is not important, or that it has been ignored. We want to make World of Warcraft the kind of environment that players of all sorts can share free from harassment, and we agree that individuals should be held accountable for their actions. Due to our privacy policies, however, we will never reveal the actions taken against another player's account though.

On the other hand, perhaps players wouldn't use that kind of (inexcusable) language in response to your activities if you did not join Dungeon Finder groups, announce your intention to go afk, and use profanity while taunting them. This would be a good time to remind you that all aspects of a report are investigated in detail, and that all players are expected to uphold our policies at all times when playing World of Warcraft.

Edit:

Please refrain from quoting inappropriate language on this forum.

Malkorix, I'm sure you think you're brilliant with that subtle sarcasm, but you might want to save the post. You're most likely losing your job for it.

If you would like to provide feedback regarding my posts on this forum, you may do so via email at [email protected].

I'm way ahead of you. Don't try to rationalize violent threats with profanity. It wont work.

That was never my intention - the language you described is completely unacceptable. I was merely clarifying the situation, and bringing to light methods you can alter your behavior to help avoid being the target of harassment in the future.

When targeted by harassment, it is far more appropriate to report the situation and then /ignore the offender. It is best to avoid further contact.

I don't think this thread isn't going anywhere pleasant, so I'm going to lock it for now.

For those who are curious, this is a an ideal time to point toward our harassment policies:
