Keypress and GCD Lag // Spell Queue Issues

This topic was originally created by Macloud in the Bug Report Forum. However, I thought it may be better suited to post here instead. If I was wrong to try and relocate this thread please go ahead and delete this thread if need be, I just thought people might have more support ideas in this forum.

Here is a link the the original thread in the Bug Report Forum:

<a href="http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2416210406">http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2416210406</a>

Quoted from Macloud: "As of patch 4.1, I've noticed considerable lag when I press keys to initiate spells/skills, etc. I've moved my latency bar back and forth, I've unchecked the new "cast action keybinds on key down" option, and it's still there. What this essentially means is that my spells/abilities aren't being queued properly. The spell queue seems to be randomly deciding what it wants to queue, and my instants are most notably refusing to go off when they're supposed to be queued. It seems the GCD indicator is affected as well."

This is the problem people have been reporting in that thread. Even with all addons disabled/updated, a deleting of the wtf, interface, and cache folders, and repair.exe ran and having perfect latency. Nothing seems to work and it seems to only affect instant cast spells. I myself can cast any spell with a cast time on it with zero issues such as Fireball but part way into the fight(it doesn't happen right off the bat) instant cast spells have trouble working. I can press Living Bomb, Combustion, and Flame Orb etc till my finger bleeds and the spell just wont cast, I then just keep spamming Fireball and occasionally pray my other instants will work when I need to use them.

Anyone have any thoughts on what this may be?

Hey all. My sympathies for the control issues. Personally I haven't noticed any lessening of responsiveness, so there's obviously a variable or two floating around somewhere. Out of curiosity, have any of you tried tinkering with the "Custom Lag Tolerance" setting under Main Menu > Interface > Combat?

Tracing from my computer to Blizzard's servers always shows packet loss inside AT&T's network

Careful. The second a ping reaches our servers the data intentionally turns to garbage as the datacenters are masked. That being said, if you'd like to post a tracert and/or a pathping I'll be glad to look it over.

Tried the "custom lag tolerance", but it did nothing to remedy the problem. Tried raiding today, and it was incredibly frustrating. My HotStreak would proc, and I'd have to hit it 5 or 6 times before it would cast. Sometimes I wouldn't even be able to get it off. Other times, I'd cast fireball, and nothing would happen....then 5 or 6 seconds later, fireball would magically start casting. I've tried everything. I re-installed WoW, updated Windows, Updated my video card. What else can i do? I'm honestly considering canceling my account. I hate that I'm so frustrated after sitting down to do something I used to enjoy.

This is very strange. I'm racking my brain as to what could be causing a distinct issue like this for just a certain set of players, but nothing is jumping to mind. Let's start with a networking long-shot, and assuming that doesn't work we'll start again from the ground up with some DxDiags.

First up, the longshot. Assuming you're on Vista or 7, try switching off IPv6 in your network controls. Handy Microsoft instructions to finding the toggle is here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Change-TCP-IP-settings

If that doesn't resolve the issue, post a DxDiag so I can get a feel for your systems and look for any freak commonality. Thanks guys; I'll do my best to figure this out. (I am off tomorrow and Wednesday, so I won't be able to get back to this thread until Thursday though.)

Thanks for the the DxDiag, Arista. The only things that stands out is that you're running a multiple display setup. While normally that wouldn't be a matter of note, I have a few odd reports here from players who have resolved "lag and disconnects" by shutting off (via software) their second display.

Yes, it's another long shot, and I know it's a bit of a pain, but if we can verify that this is actually a convoluted video issue (via multiple displays) then it would be a huge breakthrough. Then, we could work on getting it fixed.
