I'm posting on an alt or obvious reasons...

I was whispered by a random toon today "I am reporting your name for having ASCII characters in it."

I though that ASCII characters were ok? Just to be specific, my name consists of ONE ASCII character. It's the letter " ø "

I've been using it since the start of the expansion. A lot of people know me but this name. I think it was just someone having a bad day threatening me or whatever.

Can I get a BLUE response on this? I don't want to HAVE to change my name.

BTW BLUE, it's the level 80 TANK in case you want to look at the name. I only have 2 80s, so it shouldn't be hard to find.

While character names containing high-ASCII characters were once in violation of our policies, they are no longer. Please feel free to use a character name with high-ASCII in it; however, please be aware that this may be considered a social taboo for many of your fellow players and result in players not inviting you to groups. Also, please be aware that our policies are ever changing and should high-ASCII characters be outlawed once again, you may be required to change your name.

Let us know if you have any questions.

This seems a strange footnote, Aredek. Is this something Blizzard is currently considering?

Not that I know of, I just felt it necessary to provide the standard policy disclaimer!
