Yes indeed, Korbindallas! If you decide to cancel your account, your characters will be kept intact. When you reactivate your account, your characters will be in the same condition as you last played them.

The only exception to this is that deleted characters (characters that have been deleted manually by yourself, whether the account is cancelled or not) may be unrecoverable over time. So be sure to leave everything the way you would like it when you return. :0)
