I don't play online games with a single real life friend. But I do play with tons of guild friends.

I would like to be in contact with them while playing SC2, but I don't want to give out my personal email/account and real life first/last name to everyone and their brother.

Like this for example, from the FAQ:

Q u o t e:
If you are using Real ID, your mutual Real ID friends, as well as their Real ID friends, will be able to see your first and last name (the name registered to the Battle.net account).

Q u o t e:

Features such as cross-game chat, World of Warcraft cross-realm and cross-faction chat, Broadcast messages, and Rich Presence are only available if you use Real ID

Why can't there be a middle ground?
