So after 2 days of having my ticket escalated, I come back from a snack to find my internet had cut out for a few minutes, upon logging back on my escalated ticket was gone! I had been hacked back in feb and found it out when I had tried to renew wow account few days ago, had gotten it all back nice and secure but missing cash and equip on some chars, so I had put a ticket in, it got responded to quite quickly then escalated for 2 days as I said before, but now it's gone!

After reading these forums it looks like it takes a long time for escalated tickets and I don't want to put another in and cause any confusion, I just want to know where mine went and how much longer I need to wait.

I am sorry for the confusion, Kurou, the majority of compromise investigation petitions are forwarded for a special queue, they petition itself isn't generally "escalated" as it would be for a normal restoration request.

Current compromise investigation queue times are around 4-6 days. This can fluctuate depending on the number of cases we receive as well as the complexity of the individual investigation but that is the average at the moment. You'll be contacted with the results of our investigation via your registered e-mail address.

Yes, that is what I'm saying, Kurou. Your case was forwarded for investigation and given how long the issue has been in queue it will likely be another 2 to 4 days before you will receive an e-mail about your resolution/restoration.

Q u o t e:
but am I able to realm + faction change this character during this time or (I'm assuming) I should probably wait until I get an email with results from the investigation?

I would avoid faction changing or transferring while the investigation is on-going. It may complicate the investigation.
