Real ID is not a good idea

I do understand the idea behind it. It sounds good in theory.

But in practice it really is going to suck.

Why?

Lets say for example you need a break from guild drama. So you pop on another realm to just...I dunno...pwn noobs on your alt that you made in your spare time.

Suddenly you get a tell from your GM "Hey, I thought you said you had to go? We need you to heal our 10 man so get back over here".

Yeah.

"But nobody forces you to befriend someone". Right?

Oh sure. I can see it now "sorry, GM, I don't want to add you to my friend's list. Why? Oh no reason I just want my PRIVACY so when I don't want to be bugged into tanking / healing I can just relax on an alt.

I would like it better if you could opt in and out of various alts.

For example :

myhealingpriest on Xrealm might be my main. I then have dood1, dood2, dood3, etc on the same realm in different classes.

I may even have "notahealingpriest" on another Yrealm that I don't mind SHARING my info with so I can play on that realm and when it is raid time or something I can get a message.

As I said if I need some time to relax and get away from the drama in guilds I like being able to do this.
