Moderated Guild Chat?

Greetings!

This past day, a guildmate of mine was given an in game ban for something that was said in guild chat. I obviously won't repost it here, since it was fairly debauched. I didn't find it humorous or worth saying, but I support his right to say whatever he likes in a private forum.

I was under the impression that guild chat and its contents were not subject to moderation/penalties. Has this been changed? Does it depend on the extremity of the statement? Thanks in advance for any feedback/information you provide!

Heya Sausagefan,

You should check: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=20455

Under "Situational Factors" you should find this:

"Guild Chat Since your participation in guild chat is "at will," we take a much more lenient stance in these forums. Only the most severe harassment (i.e. Racial/Ethnic, Extreme Sexual/Violence, Real-life Threats) will be considered."
▲▲As everyone else here has already stated, if they player is reported, we will investigate it. If we feel it warrants an action, then we will action them under the circumstances mentioned in the policy above.
