No Customer Service

Heads up for anyone trying to get through to customer service.

They are experiencing very high call volumes, will not let you stay on hold and will not let you leave a message.

The message says simply to call back later, which I feel is an inappropriate solution.

My wife's account was hacked this morning; she is on a Mac, shares her account with no-one, does not download any software, knows very well not to click through any website ads, has protection installed (I am 'in the business'), does not use WoW on any other computer - ever and does not share her account information with anyone. Her Mac is clean, password protected and is not compromised.

I checked all console logs and there is no activity indicating keylogger or other similar activity.

This attack vector was clearly external to her Mac.

I am sure customer service is busy with the rash of hacked accounts over the last several days but this level of customer service needs to be addressed.

We have a sticky posted here regarding the high wait times, and it may be worth a look for you:

Experiencing a High Volume of Calls

The hold queue is finite, and to limit the confusion that our players experience when attempting to contact us via telephone, this new messaging was devised to help explain the situation, rather than allow our customers to labor under the mistaken impression that our phone system is not working.

We are in the midst of improvements to our telephone system, and we realize that we have a long way to go, but we are focused on improving our ability to reach our players as swiftly as we can and delivering world class service once we do. These improvements are an ongoing and incremental process though, and large scale movement takes time. In the meantime, your patience is greatly appreciated.

With regard to the source of intrusion for a compromised account? That isn't always so easy to determine, but phishing is a means by which even a very well secured system could be compromised. Of course, there are many other methods and means as well.

You can learn more about email phishing messages on our sticky here:

Finally, shared accounts can result in an account compromise. It ultimately doesn't matter how carefully you've secured your system if someone else has access to it, since they could very well log in from an unsecured computer, fall for a phishing attempt themselves or or log into an infected system.

Did you call in as dps? That might be your problem. I call in as a tank and they put me right through.

I suspect that you are probably just trying to lighten the mood a bit, Kalamitas, but some would consider a post like this that doesn't otherwise contribute to the discussion to be trolling. While it might seem a bit harsh, it's probably better to keep things on topic when the tone is serious, as it is in this thread.

There are other, more lighthearted threads, where a comment like this might not be viewed askance.

I am bowing out of this discussion because we cannot seem to stay on topic: Customer Service - as that is my current dilemma. We are still calling and getting a 'Please try again later' message now after 6 hours.

Due to the nature of the telephone system, an occasional call is not likely to be as effective as redialing consistently until you are successful in entering the hold queue. I realize that this is not ideal, of course, but it is most likely to yield success.

There may also be other avenues via which to contact our department regarding your compromise. If you haven't already read it, this thread is very much worth a look:
