Bloodlust/Heroism fixed. Now Kings turn.

If you came to the forums on a fairlt regular basis, then you would know people have always been talking about Shaman having Bloodlust/Heroism all to themselfs. We all know that Blizzard acknowledged this, and even talked about giving Hero/Lust to a pure, hell I think it was brought up at a Blizzcon once. I think no matter who got it there would have been complaining.

With that in mind there is really only one real strong buff left to only one class/3 specs. Kings buff. With this new change to Bloodlust given to another 3 specs, we should probally expect Kings to eventaully be given out too. That would put an end to having to bring one particular class every raid if you want to maximize buffs.

Now like Hero/Lust, Kings will probally be given to another pure. So now the question becomes, if it is given out to a pure, which of the 3 remaining pures do you think it would suit the best?

We do want to make sure that 10 player raids can get all of the major buffs a little easier. You should feel like most reasonable comps (3 warriors and 7 rogues is not what we'd consider reasonable) give you all of the major buffs and several of the more minor ones. There will be a little more consolidation than what we've described so far.

We are scaling back the magnitude of some of the buffs, as we did with Sunder Armor. We want you to feel awesome when you have strong good synergy, but we don't want the buffs to overwhelm say your gear or skill. We're also planning on getting rid of any talent that buffs a buff. Any buff that is earned solely by talent needs to have a selfish component thrown in so that you don't feel like you should respec if someone else with that buff comes along.

Obviously things like Rebirth can't just be handed to out to more classes unless we did something like a second exhaustion mechanic for battle rez or whatever. For now we're going to try the cooldown at 30 min again. In Icecrown's world of limited attempts, a 30 min cooldown likely meant you just cooled your heels until the cooldown was available again. In Cataclysm the hope is sometimes you'll have the benefit available but not every time, which scales back on how much of a game-changer it is.

An alternative to a longer cooldown for Rebirth is something where one druid using it would trip everyone's cooldown for a few minutes. That it's a bit gamey, but might solve the problem.

Also keep in mind that Rebirth is much more useful in today's game where people tend to die from massive damage. In a world where people sometimes die because the healers have run out of mana, then Rebirth doesn't buy you quite as much.

In a 25 player raid, you're most likely going to have a druid of some kind. The challenge is the 10 player raid. We don't want a druid to be required (just like we don't want a shaman to be required). You can argue that using Rebirth to recover from a death is just inherently harder in 10s since the opportunity cost is larger when 10% of your group is down, and yet another player is going to have to donate some time to bring that person back up. Beneficial, definitely. Mandatory? Maybe not.

IMO Blood lust should have been treated the same way (drums) and not doled out to mages as it now makes them grossly OP in world and arena environments.

Having a class ability replaced by a consumable feels lame. Having another class that can do it isn't so bad. That's just their class ability. We don't want to see a world with Rebirth scrolls and Totem of Wrath drums or whatever.

Or having a paladin vs Drum of Kings? Glad you feel that way. So, what other class is getting Kings? Y'know, since it's just so broken for Shamans to be the only ones with Heroism, it makes sense for the other class-exclusive buff to be handed out in a meaningful way.

Making Kings and Gift the same buff (and pulling the consumables) is one obvious answer.
