Prepaid Game Card - Retailer Not Helping

I bought 2 prepaid game cards after I got off of work, came home, gave one to my husband for his account, and went to put one on mine. I scratched off the silver so i could get the code, entered it on the site, and then was told that the code was invalid. I reentered it, no go. I had a friend of mine read the code off to me one character at a time and double check it after i typed it in. No go.

I called wal-mart about it, after verifying that BOTH gamecards were on my receipt, and was informed that because I had already scratched off the silver, there was nothing they could do.

How was I to know that the code would be invalid? how could I even try it without scratching off the silver?

What should I do now? Am I really supposed to just pony up another 30 dollars for a game card, effectively paying 30$ a month for the next two months? Is there something I can do as far as getting this card redeemed? I'd like any assistance I can get, as my time runs out saturday morning, which is my birthday, and I am not made of money. T.T
