Accidental level up

I have been in contact with in game GM's about this issue with no success and was redirected here.

I will start with the fact that I am completely oblivious to the changes to wow over the last couple years. For years I have been deliberately keeping my character at 19 for pvp reasons. This character is highly important to me and I have had it for a quite a long time, I am very upset about what has happened.

I am writing this because while I was playing pvp and I was (what seemed at the time) mysteriously leveled up during a pvp match. Being as though I haven't played for quite some time I was unaware of the experience & achievement changes in pvp along with the option to hold a character at a specific level. Turns out that I achieved the 1000 honor kill award and to my shock and dismay it made me level up.

I am requesting that I have my character moved back down to level 19 so that I can continue to play at this level. I do not have the time anymore to create a character like this and really need to have it restored to 19. I have put a ton of time, gold & energy along with many memorable hours with friends on this character. It really is the only reason I did and will ever come back to wow, that's how much this character means to me. I would really appreciate it if you could do this for me, you have no idea what it would mean to me! Thanks in advance!

My issue here is that I believe it to be Blizzards fault for not providing warnings and whatnot about the potential of leveling. Granted I was gone for a long time, it still isn't right that I receive no warnings or suggestions.

I'm sorry, Livis, but that simply isn't true. We provide warnings starting with the box. On your World of Warcraft box it contains the following word: Game Experience May Change During Online Play.

Granted this applies mostly to the ESRB rating guide but there are further warnings in place. In our Terms of Use. Below is part of section 12.

Blizzard reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to change, modify, add to, supplement or delete any of the terms and conditions of this Agreement at any time, including without limitation access policies, the availability of any feature of the Game or the Service, hours of availability, content, data, software or equipment needed to access the Game or the Service, effective with or without prior notice; provided, however, that material changes (as determined in Blizzard’s sole and absolute discretion) will be disclosed as follows: Blizzard will provide you with notification of any such changes through a patch process, or by email, postal mail, website posting, pop-up screen, or in-game notice.

I believe I have a special case here that stands out from most other requests to remove a level.

No, I'm sorry, you do not have a special case. We have received such requests before and we simply are unable to grant them. The intended direction of any character created is a forward progression, this is how it works in games of this nature. Though we do not directly prohibit the act of twinking, neither have we been in support of it. The simple fact of the matter is, we do not remove experience from characters. This is not only a design functionality but also a development decision.

Q u o t e:
I'll wait to hear that from them. I believe that there are ways around it. Say what you will, but none of you work for Blizzard. I will wait for a comment from them and see what they want to do about my situation. Thanks for your input, but the only input I'm interested in is Blizzards.

That is something that we have already said though, Livis, in response to the petitions you have submitted. The only option at this point would be to post in the Suggestion forum. There our Developers can review your feedback and if they agree they may implement such changes.

Q u o t e:
I didn't have WOW installed prior. It was one huge install from Blizzard to the latest version, it totaled like 8+ gigs. No patch notes.

The most current version of the client available is the Universal Client, this version contains all content up to the release of Wrath of the Lich King. If I'm not mistaken that is up to 3.1.1. You likely patched, Livis, but may have not realized it.

In either case I'm afraid we will be unable to assist you with this issue, Livis. I am sorry for what frustration this may have caused you though and wish you luck in whatever you decide to do from here.
