Cata MS changes

What do you consider the iconic warrior ability? For me I think of mortal strike. I have played since vanilla and remember when all warriors were 31/0/20. This ability made them unique and a frighting person to go up against in pvp.

Flash forward to Cata, 5 classes have the warrior's iconic move and all have equal effect and I have to ask why. A while back, GC said at some point that they handed out MS effects like candy and warriors would be getting a new move to help compensate. Cata previews come and this move is defiantly not on the roster, instead our MS effect is nerfed to the lower 20% of other classes. I see the reason for this change and agree that it needs to happen, under one condition; All other MS effects be removed. There is no doubt that MS is a powerful mechanic and is necessary for most arena comps. I just think, with the nerf, the effect is still very powerful and will still have a big impact. With the new expansion and introduction of masteries the other classes can be balanced around not having it and warriors can be rebalanced around being the only one with their iconic move.

Save the whales, rain forests, and while you're at it, please save the warrior MS.

GC said that.. and I am going to find the post... when I do I will edit it into this.

I believe the quote you are referring to was something asked at Blizzcon, where a warrior said he missed the days when MS hit really hard. I said we thought it made sense for MS to really deliver on damage. I agree it's an iconic ability for Arms. It's not a talent we ever want to feel optional.

But that does not mean that we go back into a world where warriors bring MS and nobody else does, nor does it mean warriors bring the best MS. Since our design is to try and make sure nobody is mandatory for a raid group or PvP team, the last thing we would want to do is make the debuff larger for one class than another. That just recreates the whole problem again.
