Sometimes WOW will freeze completely still. The game is still going, but it seems like im in a state of 50% WOW and 50% dashboard. I can Move Icons on my action bar, but thats it. If I hit my windows button on my keyboard to exit to my desktop then click the WOW icon in the taskbar, it brings me right back to wow working perfectly. The game doesnt freeze, but my screen freezes. I have NO idea what it is. I did a fresh install and everything. My drivers are up to date. It seems like there is something in the background that pulls me out of WOW slightly but nothing pop ups. Any ideas on how to fix or find out whats wrong?

Kaorisin,

Lets try running the game in windowed mode to see if that helps.

- Click Start
- Highlight Programs
- Highlight World of Warcraft without clicking on it.
- Right click on the World of Warcraft icon
- Click Properties
- In the Target field, add '-windowed' after the last quotation mark
Example: "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe" -windowed
- Click OK
- Try the game now with the icon you just modified.

Kaorisin,

We can enable fullscreen windowed mode from the video options. That setting is much like normal fullscreen.

If windowed mode resolves the issue though, it indicated that the issue is probably interference from a different program. Try closing background programs to see if that also resolves the issue.

We can use selective startup mode to disable most programs. Please be aware this mode will disable any security programs you may have running so refrain from doing other things while in this mode.

Hold the Windows key on your keyboard and press the letter 'R'. In the Run field type "msconfig" and hit Enter.
In the General tab:

1. Choose Selective Startup
2. Disable (uncheck) Load startup items
3. Click OK and Reboot

To undo selective startup, just recheck Load startup items.
