Offensive/Racist Character names

There is a character on <removed>. I feel that this name is disrespectful at best and racist at worst. It is in clear violation of the ToS. I petitoned a G.M. and was told the character would be flagged for a name change. I logged in today to see the character is still named <removed>. The character was obviously never flagged. The G.M. obviously did not do what he said he was going to do.

In fact, after having armoried the name <removed> i've found there are 107 character, 7 arena teams, and two guilds with this name. It is deeply disrespectful and needs to be changed.

I would like this issue resolved and all the characters, guilds, and arena teams be flagged for a rename.

We happen to agree that the name in question is deeply inappropriate, Martyn. It is rather unlikely that our staff will confirm the action taken against another player's account, though, due to our privacy policies.

I believe that the impression you've gotten regarding inaction on the part of our staff is incorrect. Upon investigation, I am unable to locate a character by the reported name on Doomhammer. Also, it isn't a good idea to use the Armory to track inappropriate character, team or guild names, since the Armory can be slow to update, and often these names are dealt with appropriately long before the Armory is updated to reflect the change.

Is it possible that this character used the same name again, but included an ASCII character to do so? If so, can you recall which letters might have contained unusual symbols?

As if you knew the whole story, take your selective righteousness elsewhere and look away when "policy" targets individuals instead of applying to everyone in-game. The only reason this policy exist is to please the overly nit-picky PC people like yourself who are never happy unless they are up in someone else's business. Besides, Blizzard already has a history of segregating its players because of its conditioned beliefs.

Fascinating. And what is the 'whole story'?
