I understand why it was implemented but you went about it all wrong. Limiting the need for progression is one thing, but eliminating it entirely is just gross.

Blizzard, I really really really really really really really really really really hope you're not planning to reintroduce the emblem system of WotLK in Cataclysm. I really believe it is the worst thing you have ever done.

Emblems should be account bound. Give me some incentive to play my alts, rather than avoid them because I'd need to repeat the whole gear grind with them.

It could also help alot of people trying to gear up tanks be able to do so without going in unprepared and causing all the group-dropping that brought us a 30min debuff in the first place.
I don't see why it matters what character I grind through heroics with. They are old news, I've seen them a billion times, and I'm just there to grind my emblems. Whether I do it on 1 or 7 toons isn't affecting anyone but myself.
What it WOULD do is get some of my alts ready for raids faster. Oh the horror!
I don't quite get the last sentence... Why would I spend hours grinding badges on my tank, send them all to my mage, gear him, and then let him collect dust? It's RAIDIN TIME! Even if dust collection was in his future, still don't see how this in any way impacts the game or others.....
Q u o t e:
You play the actual character from levels 1-80. Do you really need to spend an equal amount of time grinding heroics to get the gear you need to raid?
Q u o t e:
Because you're replaying the same content. If you want to gear a tank for raids with emblems in a few weeks then you're spending weeks doing random Heroics, which you've likely been doing for months now as it is. It's not that I disagree with your sentiments, but I also understand the annoyance with reliving the heroics grind on every new 80 character.
