Why is this a bannable offense? I remembered it from Everquest the other day and....well to be quite honest I was excited to run one again. I made a macro and then I was uber-god slammed about how it is a bannable offense and how I was running a scam.

O.o

I'm just curious, if it is a bannable offense then I shall delete the macro and never think about it again.

I just want to know what the big deal is.

EDIT:

Looking for possibly a blue response or a blue verdict on an archived post.

If you use in-game chat channels to advertise for a casino and you are reported, account action will surely follow. I'm terribly sorry, but the Game Master staff will not discuss the viability of advertising via third-party programs and websites as those channels are not regulated by Blizzard Entertainment. As previously stated, should we verify any reports indicating that you are using any in-game means or forums posts to advertise for such a system, all appropriate actions will be taken to ensure the quality of gameplay for our players.

Okay. What about private channels? I know some players do

It is currently a violation of our policies to advertise for an in-game gambling event via any in-game channel or means whatsoever. This includes public channels, whispers, emotes, mail, creatively named level one gnomes, etc. et al.

But you may not "hint" to people in game to go to your guild forums to read about your casino.

Indeed.

That kind of 'clever' circumvention could lead one to run afoul of our policies.
