I've noticed a few post today. I put in a faction change request and it's been pending for a while? should i cancel and try again?

It looks like your Faction Change has gone through, Portland. It seems you did not log into your character to complete the name change after you had transferred. That was preventing your Faction Change from completing. Sorry for the confusion.

There is an error with the process for the character you are attempting to Faction Change, Lilybeard. We have forwarded your information up for further investigation. We are trying to find the cause.

In your case, Retfavre, you may have a mail issue which seems to be preventing your Faction Change. Can you try the following.

1. Cancel your Faction Change.
2. Log in and rename your character (you can probably select the name you already had).
3. Switch continents (i.e. zone to another location).
4. Go to an inn and log out.
5. Post and let me know that you have done that.

Nothing as of yet, Retfavre. Bheralrul and I believe we may have narrowed down the cause. Now it is a matter of trying to correct the issue and test if that works.

In your case, Alorin, I don't believe that applies. Unfortunately there were two issues which tended to confuse the one you are currently experiencing.

As I said earlier we are investigating the cause though thus far the steps we have taken have not yet resolved the issue.

I'm hoping to get an update later this afternoon. As soon as I do I will let you all know.

If you are indicating this account, Tacticians, I don't see any Faction Changes initiated for any character on the account.

Blondebunny, yours looks to be processing normally though I don't like that you can log into it. The character should have locked. It may be a good idea to follow some of the steps I provided before.

1. Cancel the Faction Change
2. Log in, zone (i.e. move to a different continent).
3. Go to an Inn, log out.
4. Wait 15-20 minutes.
5. Initiate the service again.
6. Do not attempt to log into the character. You can play other characters normally but logging into the one you are attempting to transfer may message something up.

Same for you, Parte. And you, Régénéråtiön. If you logged into your character after you initiated the transfer you may want to follow the above directions.

Please note that on Tuesdays after maintenance there is an increase in Faction Changes and Transfers so that will slow down the service.

Ghakuj, your issue is not related to the others. It is being looked into and I'll provide what updates I can as soon as I get an update.

Did the character lock, Zomg? If so, leave it alone.

If it did not lock and you logged into the character it could cause an issue and therefore the steps I listed would apply to you.

You can usually tell if the character is locked by attempting to log into it. Not something I recommend though as even if the character is not locked the Faction Change should process normally.

If you did not log into the character after you initiated the Faction Change, leave it alone. At this time we don't recommend continually canceling and re-initiating the service.

It's Tuesday and Faction Changes and Transfers generally take longer than normal as this is the day when the majority of players who are going to use the service do so. I will not be able to look into individual characters, just leave the process be. The transaction page will update when your process has been completed.

Is is highly unlikely that your Credit Card has been charged, Lockedonu. Though it looks like it when you check your statement the fees haven't technically been removed. The fees are held pending completion of the Faction Change. If the process is canceled the held funds will return to the card within 3-5 days.

This is one of the major problems. The majority of Faction Changes are simply experiencing a delay in processing. This isn't even unusual, but because they normally take 15-20 minutes anything more and it's usually perceived that it is broken.

Twiddiseld's issue is completely unrelated and appears to have something to do with a database issue preventing transfers and faction changes. That is currently being looked into.

No, Chuckie, I am not going to be able to check on each individual Faction Change, especially on ones that have simply been in queue for 90 minutes. Faction Changes and Transfers usually take 15-30 minutes on average but how long it takes depends on how many others are also using this service. It is Tuesday, after maintenance and the majority of Faction Changes/Transfers take place today. The majority of these services are processing normally.

The only exception would be if your transaction has been pending for a couple of days.

This is mostly unnecessary though as I have already inquired about the overall service and these are going through. I have also looked into the majority of the people who have posted here thus far and all of you, except for the ones that have been in queue for a couple days or more look to be processing normally. I don't have any further detail so there is nothing I can tell you by looking at each individual case. If you have been in queue for less then 24 hours, you are likely processing normally.

I understand the frustration that such delays can cause but as I said previously there are a number of Faction Changes and Transfers are being initiated which slows down the over all process.

Technically the character should lock after you have initiated a Faction Change or a Paid Character Transfer. By it not locking that doesn't necessarily affect the service itself but logging into the character usually does. It can either delay the completion of the service or cause it to sit at pending infinitely.

If you have logged into the character after you have initiated the service it may be a good idea to follow the steps I provided earlier. This means canceling the transaction, logging in, zoning (i.e. moving your character to another continent) , logging out in an inn, waiting 15-20 minutes and then initiating the service again.

Resist the urge to log into the character. :) I would just check the transaction page periodically.

Are you sure you haven't logged into the character, Volbain? I show that you initiated the process 4/6 8:25 PM GMT and the last log in I see for the character is 4/7 2:46 AM GMT. That would have been almost a half an hour ago.

No, you should only be charged for completed transactions. Any pending fees for canceled Faction Changes will return to your card in 3-5 days.

Thank you, Dontblink, but as I have said all of our investigation thus far shows that these Faction Changes are processing. It isn't a matter of "we can't figure it out" it's a matter of "there are a bunch of requests in queue and they are taking time to process". It should also be pointed out that it isn't "extra revenue" if the transactions don't complete. The funds aren't actually paid until the Faction Change has completed.

No, this mostly seems to be affecting transfers, I have only seen two Faction Changes and those we have been working with for a few days now. We've been working with a few people to help discover the cause of the error and we seem to have narrowed it down to a possible item/data base issue. We have spoken with our programmers and they are working on a resolution. They hope to give us a temporary work around that will allow us to correct this issue on an individual level but also an overall resolution so take care of others out there and prevent it from happening again.

This particular issue is a personal project of mine so I can assure you that as soon as I get any information I will let everyone know. :)

Yes, Fluster, it looks like you didn't log into your character after you did your Character Transfer. You'll need to cancel your Faction Change request, log into the character and select a new name. I'd recommend that you zone the character (i.e. switch to another continent) then log out from an inn. Wait 15-20 minutes then initiate the Faction Change again.

I'm sorry, Festir, but the delay you are experiencing is simply a delay. You do not have an error that some of the folks that have been in process for several days do.

As I said before our DBA's and Tech's are looking into the processes but thus far the majority of these Faction Changes are going through. The system is simply slower due to the number of requests that are processing.

Unfortunately I don't have access to those services so I am not able to cancel it for you. Once the page comes back online though if you cancel, log in and rename your character, (zone), log out, wait 15 minutes, then initiate the FC, it should go through normally.

Your error is simply caused by the rename flag left on your character after the transfer.

If anyone is still receiving the unavailable message, please try clearing your cookies and cache. The service appears to be back and you are likely looking at a cached copy of the site.

You would start by seeing if your request has been in queue for over 24 hours. If it hasn't, which your has not, it is likely you are just experiencing a delay.

It shouldn't actually charge you twice but the previous pending charge won't return to your account for an average of 3-5 days.

You should never log into a character that has a transaction pending. Transfers have been very slow today, our techs are looking into that. I'd leave this be for now and check back on the status in a few hours.

It's clearly stated that process can take up to 72 hours even under the best of circumstances, Dontblink.

I'd recommend not putting something like this off till the last minute. While it's true they normally go through quite rapidly, delays like this can happen from time to time.

I've been in contact with our tech folks all night long. If you've noted the website has also been having a few issues as well, and that is tied up in this process.

I'm terribly sorry if you don't feel I offered enough compassion, I do realize this can be frustrating - my focus tonight has been trying to make sure the proper folks were aware and this was being looked into :)

There are three issues with these services and there has been a bit of confusion regarding each.

The first is with Faction Changes that are initiated after you have used the Paid Character Transfer services. In some cases when you transfer to a new realm the name of your character is already in use. You can usually tell this has happened because your name will have temporary characters on it for example a characer would have letters and numbers such as S9D7215 attached to his name. If you initiate a Faction Change without first completing the transfer process (i.e. logging the character into the game and selecting a new name) your Faction Change may experience an error and not be able to complete. The following steps usually can resolve that issue.

1. Cancel your Faction Change.
2. Log in, select a new name.
3. Zone (i.e. move your character to a different continent), go to an inn and log out.
4. Wait 15-20 minutes.
5. Initiate the Faction Change.

Now, some characters are experiencing an issue that we have been looking into that is causing an error with the process. In that case you have a Faction Change or Paid Character Transfer that simply does not seem to process and will remain pending for much longer than normal 24+ hours. Some players will also get flagged for name change while in waiting as well.

Our Technicians and DBA's are looking into these issues and hope to have them resolved as quickly as possible.

The last is what the majority of you are experiencing with your Faction Changes, where they seem to be taking much much longer than normal. Our Technicians have looked into these and they all seem to be processing normally but there seems to be a significant delay. Our Techs continue to look into the service and are working to see if they can speed up the processing rate.

I completely understand the frustration you are experiencing and I can assure you that this is a high priority issue and we hope to have them all resolved as quickly as possible.

As soon as I get an update I will let you all know. For now, unless you are experiencing the first condition I described I recommend leaving your process be, for now.

Unfortunately, Quincannon, you seem to be in the same boat as Twiddiseld. There is a database issue preventing the character from completing the service. For now, I'd recommend to leave your process be. Our Tech's and DBA's are working on resolving the overall DBA issue. As soon as I have an update I'll pass it along.

Nothing yet. Your cases are with our DBA's and they are working on getting a resolution. I don't know what the progress is though, it sounded rather complex so it's a matter of resolving the error which is preventing some players transfers and faction changes without negatively affecting the other processes. I'm sorry guys, I know you have been more than patient through this. I haven't set this aside, I keep poking people and waiting for an update.

As I described in a previous post, listed below, Phanuel, not everyone is experiencing the same issue. Some are just delays in the process others need to correct something with their transaction and some are stuck in process and are having their case looked into.

Also, we aren't charging for services without rending such services. When you request a service such as a Paid Character Transfer our system contacts your bank to make sure the money is available and to let them know that you wish to make a purchase. Your bank holds those funds until the transaction has been completed. If the process has not been completed those held funds return to the account within 3-5 days. Most online transactions work the same way.

Your character has an error causing the issue, Retfavre, no matter how many times you cancel and reapply it is likely that you'll continue to receive this error until the issue is resolved. I thought I mentioned that when you asked earlier.

Have you logged out completely and rebooted the client, Eysta. I show a Tauren Shaman on the new realm. Can you try creating and deleting a new character on that realm, that may update the character selection list for you.

I don't see a character Transfer, Urahara, and it looks like you have been trying this for several days now. I'd say you are experiencing the same error. I've forwarded your information up so go ahead and cancel and play normally for now. Once the error is correct I'll post and let people know in this thread then you should be able to process the character normally.

I am sorry about that, Lorenn. There are a few issues out there and they may have confused a couple. It looks like your Faction Change errored out and will likely continue to do so until we can resolve the issue causing it.

Have you tried clearing your cookies/cache and perhaps tried an alternate browser (i.e. if you are using Internet Explorer try Firefox or vice versa)?

Unfortunately, Infern, you have the same error which is preventing the Faction Change on that character. Like the others your information has been forwarded as well. As soon as the issue is resolved I'll provide an update.

I'm afraid not, Chuckieakenz. The issue you are experiencing is that you did not log in and rename the character thus completing your Character Transfer before you initiated the Faction Change. I'm sorry, Chuckieakenz, but me forwarding your information would not resolve your issue as it is not database related. I am sorry but you will need to wait until you can initiate it again. :(

I see where you canceled and re-initiated the Faction Change, Ibblet, but it doesn't look like you logged into the character to rename it until recently. Did you try initiating the Faction Change now that you renamed the character?

Edit: Nevermind, Ibblet, looks like you are in the same boat. I've sent your information up for a look.

Doodjacob looks good actually. This is noted as complete pending payment - that just means we are waiting to receive confirmation back from your financial institution. Long as there are no snags there, this should go through as it stands now.
