Why Legendary Weapon at the END?

Was thinkin bout this as I posted in another thread....why did Blizz release the Legendary 2h axe at the end of this expansion? Kind of kills the point imo. Sure, bragging rights, orange equipped etc...but in vanilla, at least people got a chance to aqcuire a legendary weapon that they could use through out vanilla. The sword however was a PERFECT legendary item for tanks....also proved as how long it was used in BC.

While, it wasn't necessarilly the ideal raid weapon for any class (Shaman and Warriors had to be VERY careful of threat levels) but it was somethin that gave you some decent time being used for the effort to get it.

BC had a great timeline of the legendaries....WotLK just seems a tad late to the party.

edit: Anyone remember the legendary resist neck? lol....
