In-game mail spam question

For the past few days I have been receiving odd gold spamming messages via the in-game mail system. These spam messages come right before or after I receive a legitimate message from a friend or even from one of my alts. The messages come with almost every real piece of mail I receive, no matter the sender or my character. The actual spam message is in its own piece of mail, not merged in with an item I’ve sent myself (like some of the spam I’ve read about in other forum posts). The spam is always from the same sender, and the spam message, subject and text are also identical each time. I’ve reported the messages as spam every time, so maybe someone will see them soon.

The spam messages read as follows:
From: (looks like it is someone’s real name with asdfd tacked on the end)
Subject: St.Patrick is calling all of us to WOW
Body: Use code:*** to enjoy 20% free gold with your order welcome to ----->*****.com<-----
(the body also includes an undecipherable picture made from back slashes, forward slashes, etc. that possibly resembles a man sitting down)

I’ve asked around and I seem to be the only one in my guild getting this spam. My account seems to be uncompromised ((knock on wood)), but I can’t figure out the cause of these spam messages and haven’t seen any similar problems reported on the forums. Any suggestions or information would be much appreciated.

That would be spam mail, which I do hope you are reporting via the report spam button.

Those are of course toxic sites. They are out to scam you out of your account - far more than sell you anything, many are infested with malware lurking to infect systems with vulnerabilities.

If you've been reporting this as spam and the same one seems to be popping up, they can sometimes get into a loop and come back to you.

If you've reported it once, feel free to delete anything that comes back like that - it's registered.

Thanks!
