I recieved a whisper in game saying I won something and to visit a website that looks legit. Is this legit or is it a way to steal my account?

First, you will want to remove the link. No need to advertise for them ;)

Yes, this is an attempt to steal your account. Here are some helpful links to help identify true Blizzard in-game messages. Notice the blue "Blizz" icon next to the name.

Also, here is an article about how to identify Blizzard in-game messages -

If you still have the message available, make sure you right-click "Report Spam" the naughty person.

Do GMs check content of messages when you click "Report Spam"?

Absolutely. The "Report Spam" feature, however, is ideally only used for reporting gold and casino advertisements, phishing attempts (whisper or in-game mail), and any other chat that is clearly repetitive spam—including body part + [ability] discussions.

Other forms of harassment—profanity, ongoing harassment, name violations, etc—should not be reported using the "Report Spam" feature. These types of harassment are best brought to the attention of our In-Game Support staff via petition or email to [email protected]. :)

I kindly request in the future you create a new thread rather than resurrect an old thread. :)

With that said, please utilize the "Report Spam" feature in game if you continue to receive whispers of this nature.
