Frost Emblem Reward and Daily Random Heroic

I recently queued for a random daily about 10 minutes prior to the daily heroic turnover and was able to enter before 3am.

When the instance had ended, about 15-20 minutes later, after 3am, i was rewarded with Triumph emblems instead of Frost emblems.

I then checked on random queue for heroic dungeons and it was still designated to rewarding Triumph emblems.

Is this normal in that if you queue prior to the turnover of the daily random Heroic and complete the instance after 3am, you forfeit the reward of frost emblems?
