EU to US transfer

I have a friend that is moving to the states soon so we are going to be bringing his character to my server. now he plays on a EU server. Is there anyway we can move him? We would just start a new character for him but he has alot of achievements and hard to attain rewards.

Are we just out of luck here?

The following response was written by one of our new teammates. Because they are still in training and do not yet possess a forum account of their own, they shall be posting via proxy through me.

Currently, it is not possible to transfer a character from a North American to European realm or vice versa. Characters and realms are region specific. In order to play on an US realm, your friend will need to create a North American account. As stated in our Paid Character Transfer FAQ (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/20558):

No. Characters can only be transferred between realms and accounts within the same region.
