A couple of my friends started playing wow for the 1st time a month ago and just hit 80. So they queued for heroics to start getting gear. Everything was going well, no deaths or mistakes until one of them got vote-kicked. Aparently, they told them that 1500-1600 dps or anything below 2000 dps is not acceptable and they would kick both of them if they could.

Do you expect new 80s to do over 2000 dps in heroics or else? My friends got really depressed after that and they haven't done any dungeons in 2 days. They're only doing pvp in BGs right now.

No, with the average smattering of players that will be formed into a 5-player group via the Dungeon Finder, I've never felt bogged down or had trouble in the average dungeon because one or two DPS are around 1,500. Based on their gear and how they act, I typically try to be more outgoing, playful and nice to them than in typical dungeon runs.

I really wish trends didn't lead toward elitism and high expectations just because some players have stretched their legs further in this game than others. Paying it forward fosters a good gaming community, regardless of whether or not the community resides on a single realm, a battlegroup, or an entire region.

I really hope you have a few friends who wouldn't mind setting up some 5-player groups to run with these fresh level 80 friends to ease them into the experience. While the Dungeon Finder provides a major convenience to players, as with all things which provide choice and reward, you'll find people abusing others purely for the biggest piece of the ego pie. It sure looks tasty, but it's bitter going down.

I was pulling 2.5k without an issue the minute I hit 80.

So yes, 1.5k is unacceptable.

What you're saying is you refuse to be randomly grouped with players for a random dungeon if they aren't at least as good at the game now as you were when you first hit 80. Have a slice of pie. :)

He's ret, Zar, faceroll much?

Well apparently class, specialization, dungeon, encounter, attitude, and experience do not matter. Just the numbers baby! Just the numbers!

If you are not good at this game then you fail at more than just this game. 30 minutes reading elitest jerks could solve what ever rotation issue you have. I have yet to ding 80 on ANY character and not be able to do 2k dps. With all the CHEAP epics out there. If they spend 1000 gold or so (which they hould have from leveling) they can do 2k dps.

That's a sad way to view things. This is a video game and it's certainly not designed to expect every player be a seasoned veteran of games within this genre, or especially that those just reaching the endgame know what third-party sites to look up to be told exactly what to do and when. That's a requirement set forth by players with unnecessary expectations, not by our developers.

Most fresh 80s wont spend money on their characters because they know they can get carried to easy gear by others. If they do not care enough about their character to spend some money on it, I do not care enough about them to carry them through my heroics.

This is just a gross generalization you choose to make. Most players primarily focused on leveling, learning the game, and affording flying abilities aren't going to have the money to spend on a bunch of epic gear they'll replace in a matter of days. Maybe they don't want to be carried. Maybe they want to learn how grouping and Heroic dungeons work at level 80 and people like you refuse to see a distinction, shutting them out before giving them much of a chance.
