You’re probably already familiar with one of the newer features here on the forums, the Request Sticky button. Seen while viewing a forum thread in the upper right corner, this feature allows players to point us toward helpful threads which they feel deserve the ultimate recognition: Becoming a sticky!

A “sticky” is a thread that is indefinitely pinned to the top of the forum so that it's the first thing someone sees when they visit. General Discussion, Customer Service, and Technical Support forum stickies are generally official announcements from Blizzard while in the other forums, they are usually helpful guides and FAQs written by other players. Those helpful guides and FAQs can then be pointed out to us by using the Request Sticky button.

In an effort to help organize the excitement we've seen with how many of you have taken to this new feature, we thought we'd share some tips and information about submitting a sticky request.

  • Sticky requests are only seen by the Forum Moderation team. As they come in, they are stringently filtered, listed in detail, and only if they are legitimate requests for threads that may warrant a sticky request will any further consideration be given to them.
  • Sticky requests are for threads that are designed and maintained to be a benefit to most -- if not all -- players and are kept up-to-date with evolving changes to the game. Examples would be guides, directories, and FAQs.
  • Sticky requests will be discarded with no further consideration if they are for threads that are not long-term points of reference.
  • Threads are more likely to be stickied if they are comprehensive in their subject matter, are updated regularly, and have a large number of Like (thumbs-up) votes.
  • Once a Request Sticky is submitted (only 1 is necessary), please refrain from bumping the thread so that constructive conversation can carry on without interruption. If you find yourself really excited about a positive thread, we definitely encourage you to give it a thumbs-up with the Like button!
  • Player-created threads will never be stickied in General Discussion. Stickies on game topics will only ever exist in the specific forum they belong like a class PvE/PvP guide in the appropriate class forum, or an achievement-gatherer FAQ in the Achievements and Guild Advancement forum.

If a thread appears to be in violation of the forum guidelines, please use the thumbs-down Report feature. Submitting a sticky request for threads that should not be stickied like game suggestions, a popular topic, or a normal conversation thread is considered abuse of the Request Sticky feature. Repeat violations may result in the removal of forum privileges.

We hope this guide provides a bit more information on how the Request Sticky feature is seen on our end so you can use it more appropriately to help us find the best guides and FAQ’s to help other players for months and years to come!
