Recruit-a-Friend Triple XP

My buddy and I have been attempting to take advantage of the triple XP bonus, due to our Recruit-a-Friend link. Unfortunately, we've only been able to get the magical mix of requirement correct once (Donation of Silk quest), so I'd like to try and nail down the exact requirements in this topic.

Reading the FAQ, it sounds as if my friend is partied with and within 100 yards of me when I turn in a quest, I will receive triple XP. This is definitely not the case, 7 quests over the past 2-3 days have failed to provide triple XP. A GM ticket 3 days ago came back with the response that I did receive triple (I didn't) and I didn't stay logged in long enough to see the response from a GM ticket last night.

So, can we get a clear definition as to what are the exact requirements. In our experience with the Donation of Silk quest (the only one we've made work thus far) it appears as if your friend must be partied and within 100 yards of you during quest acceptance and quest completion. Is this correct? What if it's a courier or a grind quest, does my friend have to remain partied/within 100 yards of me while I go find the item or kill all the mobs? Does this have to be completed within a single session?

Typically, him and I are off doing our own things (he plays with his wife, as a friend recruited Blood Elf, so he's raking in triple XP). I gather up quests, complete them, and then summon him when I want to turn them in - they're not green/grey when I turn them in. We are usually partied during my collection/completion phases and always within 100 yards of one another during my turn-ins.

Thanks in advance!

What level is your friend Varfal? While you are correct in noting that you must be partied and nearby your friend in order to receive bonus experience, the quest must also not be marked as (Low Level) to either player. If your friend is more than 6-8 levels above you, likely quests that are green or even yellow to you will likely be (Low Level) for your friend.

From Page 2 of the Recruit-A-Friend FAQ:

Q u o t e:
Do I always gain triple experience while I am linked to my recruit?
No. In order to receive triple experience, you must be partied with a character on a linked account and within 100 yards of one another. With this, both characters (veteran and recruit) must be present for each kill and quest completion.
Also, should monsters or quests be marked as "Low Level" or listed as gray in difficulty for either character, triple experience will not apply.

Q u o t e:
what about quests that the other character is ineligible for? Does the RAF system just compare the level of the quest to the friend's level and determine if it would have been too low of a level or are these quests not available for RAF benefits?

This is correct. Even though your friend may not be eligible for quests you can acquire (race and class quests being the most common) the level of the quest is compared with the level of the players to determine if the bonus experience is awarded.
