BGs turned into bot fests

Botting as become the pinnacle of PUG BGs these days, BGs just arent fun when there are 20 bots sitting at the aidstation doing nothing more than soaking honor with no way to remove them.

Now reporting them by petition does nearly nothing, they get a slap on the wrist and continue doing their little botting rutine. Personaly i have found no way to rid of them besides calling them out in BG chat and having players report them and most of the time even that fails because the bots somehow end up in combat one way or another.

The whole botting issue just isnt for the 40man BGs but it has reached out to the others and ultimately leading to the same problems, from what i can tell nothing is being done to stop these bots either. It's just very disappointing and tragic making the BG aspec of the game unenjoyable to get the honor you need for your pvp items, left to the bot fodder BGs are nothing but a husk of what they once were.

They also move this thread to the Customer Service Forum, where no one will ever read it, even though there are dozens of other PvP threads on the Damage Dealing Forum.

You have approximately less than zero familiarity with the Customer Service forum and have never been here, have you =P? The Damage Dealing Forum isn't even remotely the correct place to express a concern regarding botting, but the Customer Service, PvP and Suggestions forums are.

I've seen several comments in this thread suggesting that we don't care, and I want to state clearly that such an impression is simply incorrect. We absolutely do care; our goal is to craft the best possible experience for our players and making World of Warcraft a place you want to be is critically important. You guys are our lifeblood, and we will continue to work fervently to reduce and eliminate these influences from impacting on your game play.

With that in mind, please, please continue to report any exploitation you witness whether in the Battlegrounds or elsewhere. Don't give up because of a mistaken impression that we do not take action against these activities (though I should point out that we also will never reveal the actions taken against another player's account due to our privacy policies). For those who are AFK and not-participating, you can use the right-click Report AFK option. If you see combat botting, you can also report that with the Report AFK option, but you can also list the specific name and realm of the player in an in-game petition or email directed to wowgm@blizzard.com.

Finally, we have a webform where you can submit reports as well. You can find it here:

When you use this site, you can select World of Warcraft in the first drop down menu, then Hacks, Cheats & Exploits from the second drop down, then continue to select categories from the drop downs that appear appropriately.

This is not the first time we've commented on botting, and as much as I fervently wish it could be, it will very likely not be the last. Just as we make leaps and bounds to defeat these malicious practices, there are those that work to create new and 'better' bots =/. It's an ongoing conflict, but one that we invest considerable resources in fighting. Here are some comments we've made in the past on the subject:

Why is there not a better in game method for reporting the combat bots? The options you give are simply inadequate.

Please define inadequate in this context? No reporting method is likely to result in immediate and visible action. As every case requires investigation, that is not the nature of the situation, I'm afraid.

The avenues I mentioned are the available methods to report these issues, but you can feel free to provide any improvements you might have in mind on our Suggestions forum.

There is, after all, always room for improvement.

Q u o t e:
I'll atleast toss you a clue, allow for players to be tagged similar to the afk reporting method...

The AFK reporting method, as I mentioned earlier, is effective for reporting bots as well.

A simple drop down, report possible automation, so we are not having to keep track and write manually what the characters information is. Especially with all the variances in name spelling and servers.

I edited my post perhaps too late, but the Report AFK feature is used to track potential automation as well. If you do feel there should be a separate option specifically for combat bots, then that concept is welcome on our Suggestions forum. I'm unable to forward such ideas personally though.
