10 onyxia encounter... boss down... no master looter so we are told to all pass so we can roll some people do some don't i don't want to see the head of onyxia ninjad so i roll need get the head give it to the raid leader to put it out for rolls and he just d/c not to come back so the rest of us left in the raid roll on it so we can just let him know when he comes back on who won so we do and i win with a 99 ( not that blizzard cares about /rolls) after a while we realize he isn't coming back so we leave i stay in the raid with the leader still in it but offline so when he comes back i can get it and i wsp him when he comes back online only to get stupid comments back. So i track him down to stormwind where he is doing the questline that starts with the head and i realize i got screwed so i start bashing him for being a ninja when he says if i keep harassing him he will open a ticket and report me for harassment which i'm sure he would do and i'd probably get some sort of consequence from blizzard... so all in all i'm left wondering why blizzard protects the dishonest and punishes the honest...
i understand that its blizzards stand that this is a social issue but this is a world that you have created and you need to evolve with it. This is an increasing problem and you need to deal with it accordingly or it is going to ruin your game.. no one wants to play a game that they know there is a good chance they are going to get cheated... and i know its your advice to not run with people you don't know or don't trust but you have to understand by now thats almost impossible sometimes people need to take what they can get. Blizzard even supports and encourages playing with people you don't know and therefore can't trust by putting in the random dungeon queue and even giving extra rewards for using it i'm the one left feeling harassed here... i'm the one left with not feeling comfortable in game because i know there is nothing i can do to help myself in this situation and i know that there is NOTHING blizzard is going to do to help me or anyone else who is a victim but they WILL protect the people who engage in dishonest behavior

Our stance, Kameloria, is that "ninja looting" is not currently possible within this game. Ninja looting is a term that generally refers to taking an item that the person has no right to.

Our Developers put a great deal of thought and work into the looting mechanics for this game. They introduced many protections for players so they can protect themselves and govern how loot will be distributed.

When you enter into a party/raid you are allowing the leader of that group to determine a few things about its make up. You are allowing them to determine who joins you in the group, who remains in the group (i.e. the power to kick) and how loot is distributed.

There are several options for loot distribution. There is Group Loot, which allows anyone in the group to roll need or greed on items of a specific quality, highest roll wins. There is Need before Greed which only allows you to roll Need on items of a specific quality that you can potentially use, highest roll wins.

In both cases a Need roll will count before a Greed roll.

There is Free for All, which speaks for itself and Round Robin which simply awards items on a turn basis.

Finally there is the Master Loot system. Just like entering into a group where you are allowing the Party/Raid Leader to make certain determinations for you, if this looting method is used you are allowing the Master Looter to determine how loot will be distributed.

What you roll using the /roll command is virtually irrelevant as it is the Master Looter who makes the final determination. We support, Kameloria, that players educate themselves on the different looting mechanics and use the one that makes the most sense for their situation. If you are not in a group with people that you trust to make a fair and just looting decision, don't use that method. If the Raid/Party leader is not willing to use a different method, you may want to consider other grouping options.

It should be noted that in certain situations where we believe a scam has taken place we may become involved. The bottom line though is that you should be using a looting method that you believe suits the situation at hand.

If you wish to see a change to our policies or looting options you are welcome to post in the Suggestion forum where our Developers, Community Managers and policy makers can review it.
