Lots of people care. Even when we haven't posted a date and people have allocated their own date to a release, if we don't meet that date, they believe we missed our release. We also know that people make plans based on the dates we give. We certainly don't want someone to plan vacation or days off based on a date we give out and then change if we can avoid it.
This way, if we give a date, you know it will happen.
