Q u o t e:
"Should we find that a name is reserved and sold for ransom in an attempt to grief another player or profit off another player's misfortune, actions may very well taken."

That is what the player is doing. He has no intention of using these names. The GM response in both the screenshot on the Bleeding Hollow Forum post and the first half of Aredek's response is aimed at incidental selling of individual names, not the camping, or speculative investment in, many many names that are likely to be desired by others, for the sake of getting gold from others.

Actually, the player in question is not attempting to grief or profit off the misfortune, but rather trying to capitalize on names that they have reserved. My sole intention of the "grief or profit off misfortune" clause was to indicate that if for whatever reason a player deletes or transfers a character and another player creates a character with the same name to extort money from or harass the player who held the name originally, we would likely step in.

Once again, the purchase and sale of names is not something we support. So please, tread carefully when making these purchases as the Game Master staff will likely be unable to intervene.

As previously stated, reserving and selling names is not inherently in violation of our policies. Should you feel that actions should be taken against those seeking to profit off of this, please feel free to voice your suggestion upon our Suggestions Forum. If you believe that someone has reserved a name with the intent to grief, harass, or extort another player, please open an in-game petition so that the Game Master staff can review situation and take all appropriate action.

As this thread no longer appears to be fruitful, it does appear as if a lock is in order. I wish you the best and look forward to reading your posts on the Suggestions Forum.
