I do see your petition. Could you possibly edit that with one of the names of the character in question - just in case you are not online when this is answered?

If you have any way to contact this person - passing along the information below would also be very helpful and get them started in the right direction.

All of these instructions may not be applicable - depending on the circumstances - but it's all basic information most compromised players will likely need to know.

Thanks!

If an account has been merged to a Battle.net, or if an email has been changed, or an authenticator added to the account (not the player's own) one of your first stops is going to be Billing. They need to get those sorted out first so the rest of the processes can continue.

Billing and Account Services
Phone Support - 1 (800) 59-BLIZZ (1 (800) 592 5499)
Live Representatives Available 7 days a week, 8am to 8pm Pacific Time
E-mail Support - [email protected]
Players in Australia should call 1-800-041-378
Players in Singapore should call 800-2549-9273
Players in Chile should call 1230-020-5554
Players in Mexico should call 001-888-578-7628
Players in Argentina should call 0800-333-0778
All other international players should call: (949) 955-0283

Now, it's very very important to figure out where the security breach occurred. If they CAN get back in, they WILL be back. That, unfortunately, you can count on.

These two stickies should prove helpful.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will help keep them out of your WoW account.

I do wish you all the very best on a speedy recovery.

Q u o t e:
this is about what to do to prevent and deal with a hacked account, and is good info.
But the problem is what can we do while it is happening. In the 90 minutes my posts covered action by blizz could have averted some of the damage. And we have no way of making that contact. This account had been hacked 3 days earlier and i was on when that happened and did not figure out what was gooing on with the rolling log ons and log offs. When it happened again and i did figure it out there was nothing I could do. i felt bad about the first instance and i feel worse about the 2nd. and if i ever see it happen again I would like to be able to do something about it.

They may have been on for some time, but in nearly all cases once access is gained the lion's share of damages are done within the first 5-10 min.

They key here is prevention. Keeping them out in the first place is infinitely preferable to undoing damages later, but if promptly reported, we can normally get a player put back together and in good shape :)

Now may be an excellent time to review basic security with your guild. Nothing like a compromise to bring home the fact that yes....it CAN happen to them.

One reason it's difficult for us to do too much from a 3rd party report is that until we hear from the player in question, we have no way of knowing for certain if they even KNOW they are compromised yet - much less have found and sealed their security breach. It's entirely possible to get this particular ball rolling too quickly and it happening all over again.

If i decoded this correctly it means if it happens again - Just sit back and watch because nothing will be done for a day or longer.

No, it means make sure everyone has an authenticator and it shouldn't happen again.
