As your fellow players have stated, this account status simply means that there is not an active subscription on the account. Once you've added a subscription, this information will be changed to Active, so please feel free to add game time to the account without issue.
I do not foresee any issues with attaching an Authenticator to your account, Reaperpally; these devices can be attached to both inactive and active accounts and changes to the account activity shouldn't affect the Authenticator. :)
