The one thing in WoW you'll never do.

What is the one thing in game that you will never do? Why not?
I can never finish Icecrown citadel (the raid). The end boss is Arthas... I watched the cinematic, and the strategy video, but I can't bring myself to do it. It's against what I think. It's silly, and all, but I just refuse. I used to ask a buddy who rarely plays now (but is still geared) to be my backup healer in case guild runs got to the end. I didn't want to ruin it for the rest of the group.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean by you won't do it because "it's against what you think"?

*smiles and politely points towards the signature* Killing Arthas in a raid would kill the slight obsession I have with him. I really don't want to do that I enjoy it too much. :) I feel kind of bad for him turning out the way he did too. It seems like a culmination of unfortunate events that all started with Invincible.
Most people think I'm more than a little nutty when I tell them why, hence the vague, out-there phrase.

I can respect that, I like that you get geeked up about the story in such a way. You almost can't help but feel bad for Arthas, but regardless of the culmination of unfortunate events that occurred - at a certain point, just as in real life you can't always or fully excuse terrible acts on some bad hand your were dealt.

Besides, as I'm sure you know -- who and what Arthas was is no more. I bet the Arthas of old when he was on a righteous path would want you to destroy the Lich King.

You can do it! :D

except he was never on a righteous path. he was always self centered.

You can be a good and just person and still be a jerk. Being self-centered is usually more of a character flaw, than an indication of one's "goodness".

I'd have to dispute that. Goodness consists almost entirely of caring about other people. Self-centeredness consists almost entirely of not caring about other people. I don't think they coexist well.

This is a large topic, and highly subjective --- as your perception of what "goodness" is will differ from someone else's whether slightly or drastically. Not to mention there are many other variables involved, including intention and motive vs. outcome and consequence.

Concerning Arthas before he strayed far from his path, I feel it's fair to say he was once under the umbrella of what would be considered "good".

And more importantly, I really think the OP should destroy him! :P
