WoW Subscriptions & SC2

Why are WoW subscribers not given first access to the SC2 closed beta?

On one hand, you have people that have been playing and paying blizzard to play WoW for years that have signed up for the SC2 beta

On the other hand, you have random people that signed up via the SC2 website

Does it not make sense to provide some type of "bonus" for already holding true to blizzard?

I mean, its great that people at blizzcon get to join it; I tried to get tickets but a broken system had them sold out and on ebay in a matter of seconds, so that was a no go....

Just depressing to see random people that just signed up getting first access for a game that's dam near 12 years in the making over people already paying to play a blizzard game.

The close beta pool should have been drawn directly from the paying WoW player base imo.....

*end rant*

I'll answer this simply. We want people in the StarCraft II beta that are genuinely interested in helping test. In order to assure that we are getting these people, we actively asked people to sign up to show their interest.

There is no doubt that there is crossover. After all, it's a Blizzard game and we all love it on our end. But for others, StarCraft is foreign territory and while we'd love to have more people play the game, we know it's not going to appeal to everyone.

The great thing about the new Battle.net is eventually, no matter what Blizzard game you are playing, you'll be able to talk to your friends, and what once was the StarCraft community or WoW community, will simply be the Blizzard community.

The most important thing for people to remember is that it's a beta and we really need people (the same as we ask for patches in World of Warcraft or for expansion betas) to test and provide constructive feedback. To have that happen, we need people passionate and interested in doing just this.
