I can understand that Blizz wants to speed up progression so that more players will be able to get into Icecrown Citadel sooner… But what is currently happening with the Triumph Badges is not progression, it’s teleportation…

Right now, a character can hit 80 on a Monday and be raiding in Icecrown on Friday… No joke, It’s happening… I personally geared my DK’s DPS spec in a week after only ever playing as a tank… And can pull 6K DPS in ICC without a single item from Ulduar or ToC… (Okay I just noticed I have one item from XT, but nevertheless)…

What is this is doing now, is not only making all the Heroism/Conquest items obsolete, but it is also completely destroying normal raid progression… The way it stands now, someone can level to 80, farm heroics, and march right into ICC without ever having stepped foot into Naxx, Ulduar or ToC…

And this is sad, because not only is it a slap in the face to all those who spent countless hours raiding progressively to get to the next level, it does a huge disservice to those who programmed a beautiful raid like Ulduar, which is now being passed over… Because no one needs any gear (or anything else) from there…

So I propose a suggestion… Changes to the current Badge/Emblem system… (And explanations of my suggestions)…

Daily Random: 2 frost for first of the day, 2 Triumph for each additional… This is fine the way it is, as it promotes play from seasoned gamers to help out less geared guildies as well as helping to level others…

Weekly Raid: Keep it the way it is… It’s fine now… Also for the same reasons…

Heroics: 2 badges of Heroism and 1 badge of Conquest for each boss… Going back to heroism and Conquest badges promotes normal PROGRESSION, and does not render the heroism and conquest item useless… Because right now they are… No one is going to buy one of those items if they can grind 5 dailies now and get a piece of Triumph gear… Make people work for their progression… This would mean that in a regular dungeon, players would receive 6 to 10 badges of Heroism, 3 to 5 badges of Conquest, and 2 badges of Triumph for each dungeon they do… If they do several a day, they would be able to get a piece of Triumph gear a week, not each day, like it is now…

Naxx: 1 badge of Triumph for each and 1 badge of Frost for each end of zone boss (4 Horsemen, Thaddius, KT etc…) Giving one badge of Frost for each end zone boss would promote the desire for top raiders to continue raiding Naxx, as well as hopefully bringing along some of their lesser geared guildies… As right now, there is no reason for top tier raiders to be raiding Naxx (unless it is the weekly)…

Ulduar: 1 badge of triumph and 1 badge of Frost for each boss… This would promote players not passing by the wonderful raid of Ulduar, and giving new raiders a chance to go and to learn the place… Also change the porting system so that guilds who struggle with the first wing can start or move to a different zone if they wish to…

ToC: 2 badges of Triumph and 1 badge of Frost for each boss… Right now it takes 90 badges of Frost to get many tier 10 items, this would speed it up a little so it doesn’t take a month for many raiders to get a piece of gear, thus promoting faster progression, as is Blizzard’s wish…

Personally I believe going back to Heroism/Conquest badges would set a proper tone for progression, as well a keeping much more of this expansions content/items relevant… It would slow progression somewhat at the heroic (newer 80) level, but realistically it would set progression at a fair level for everyone…

We won't be making any striking changes to the emblem system in this expansion given how far along we are in its lifespan. We do, however, have some fresh new plans for the emblem system in Cataclysm. I feel we've learned a lot about how badges or emblems can be utilized over the course of these last two expansions.
