I have 2 wow accounts. My main one we'll call "A". Some time ago I made another account to take advantage of the RAF program. We'll call this account "Z". Both of these accounts I made under my name and email address. Last summer I believe it was, I converted account "A" into a Battle.net account. I also purchased an authenticator for it. I was no longer using account "Z" and did not bother to merge it into my newly made Battle.net account at that time. Now I wish I had.
Recently I decided I wanted to merge account "Z" into my Battle.net account. Upon trying to do so I found that it had become compromised and had been merged into another Battle.net account. I made my way over to Blizzard support and used their webform to send the following message:
Q u o t e:
My World of Warcraft account Z******* has been merged into another person's Battle.net account and I am unable to access it now to merge it into my own Battle.net account and play. Can you please unmerge the account so I can get it back. Thank you.
I received this reply:
Q u o t e:
Greetings,
We have determined that the World of Warcraft account Z********* has been associated to a Battle.net account accessed by someone not authorized to do so by the Terms of Use (http://www.blizzard.com/us/legal/tou.html)
Please note that account sharing is a violation of the Terms of Use. As such, we are unable to assist any player in disassociating an account not created in his or her own name.
Please keep this email for your reference until the merger dispute has been resolved.
STEP 1: SECURE THE ACCOUNT, YOUR COMPUTER AND YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS
Account compromises most often occur when a player shares login information with an unauthorized third party or plays on a computer that has a virus, Trojan, or key-logger. We recommend you read and apply the following tips to protect yourself and the account.
- Unauthorized Account Access Policy: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/20460
- World of Warcraft Account Security: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/20572
- Computer Security: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/21118
- Email Address Security: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/28585
STEP 2: SUBMIT DISASSOCIATION REQUEST
In order to secure this World of Warcraft account, you will need to create a Battle.net account which contains all of your current, valid contact information. Once a World of Warcraft account has been merged with a Battle.net account, we are unable to restore it to an unmerged state. Please note that if you created the World of Warcraft account in another name, such as a family member, you will need to create a new Battle.net account with your actual name to prevent any further difficulties.
In order to create a new Battle.net account, you will need to open a web browser and follow the on-screen instructions here: http://us.battle.net/account
Should you have any questions regarding a Battle.net account or how it functions, you can review the Battle.net Frequently Asked Questions page at: http://www.battle.net/faq/index.html
STEP 3: RECOVER THE ACCOUNT
We now provide a secure website for you to verify that you have taken the appropriate steps to secure the account, your computer, and your email address. Please go to this site and follow the instructions:
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article/securitywebform
STEP 4: VERIFY YOUR SUBMISSION WAS RECEIVED
We will contact you with further instructions once we have received and processed your submission. If you do not receive a reply within 48 hours of submitting this form, please resend it from the address listed above.
Please be aware that if unauthorized access to this account continues after the recovery process is complete, it may lead to further action against the account.
Sincerely,
Chamirri

- Keep your login information confidential. Sharing access with anyone not authorized by Blizzard is a violation of the Terms of Use. You are also responsible for every use of an account on which you are listed as the registered player, whether the use was authorized or not.
- Use up-to-date firewall, antivirus, and anti-spyware software to scan your system regularly for viruses, Trojans, and key-loggers.
- Keep your operating system and other software up-to-date and be careful when downloading new software.
- Be wary of “spoof” and scam websites and e-mails that pose as Blizzard Entertainment and request account or personal information. As a reminder, Blizzard Entertainment representatives will *never* ask you for your password.
- Use separate, unique passwords for your email, Blizzard, and any other online accounts.
- Change your passwords regularly and keep your account information updated using the Account Management pages at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/ and http://www.blizzard.com/account/.

I receive the password reset email (which oddly came 5 minutes before the above email) and once again follow the instructions. All seems well, so I log into my Battle.net account to make sure everything is in order and this is what I find:
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/4005/blizzscrewup2.jpg
THEY MERGED SOMEONE ELSE'S WOW ACCOUNT INTO MY B.NET ACCOUNT.
We'll call this account "S". I take a few minutes to decide what to do, and then fill out another webform with the following message:
Q u o t e:
Please read this carefully, I do not want any more mistakes.
I just finished the recovery process for my account "z*******" (or so I thought). I followed all the instructions I received, but upon logging into my Battle.net account the account "z*******" was NOT there but instead an account named "s*******".
THE ACCOUNT "S*******" IS NOT MY WOW ACCOUNT.
Whoever did the "recovery" apparently made a mistake and merged the wrong account to my Battle.net account instead of MY WOW ACCOUNT Z**********. Please correct this ASAP.
I then receive 2 emails in reply, one being pretty much the same as the first one I quoted in this thread, so I'll shorten it a bit.
