Not getting XP from killing monsters

I'm not getting experience points when I kill monsters. I'm also not getting my herbalism or skinning skills going up when I collect herbs and skin monsters. I'm not maxed out at anything. I have a Level 17 Undead Warlock.

When you are killing monsters and picking herbs, Lochon, what number appears next to the monster's portrait and what color is the number? What color is the text of the herb node when you mouse over it? Keep in mind, monsters that are trivial to you, about 6-7 levels below you, will not award experience when killed.
