Q u o t e:
My crafted ICC holy plate legs and feet were removed from my character by blizzard. When i opened a ticket i was told by a GM that I made a trade with a compromised player's account for the materials for these pieces of gear. So in order to reimburse the player who was apparently compromised they had to remove my gear. As if were dealing with real money(this is a game). Apparently blizzards rule is that both parties involved in the trade are held accountable. Does this mean any trade with a player at anytime in the game is subject to being reversed and your goods taken if you arent at fault? How can we know if the person is "compromised"? Anyone who plays WOW knows the amount of time and effort put into acquiring gold and materials is ridiculous....does this mean all our hard work can just be taken away? I for one have paid blizzard loyally every month for a long time. If this is how they treat loyal customers they just lost one.
We don't do this lightly, Havok. When stolen goods are in question it's important that we undo as much damage to the economy as possible whether or not the player in question is aware. However....that said, since you asked - how would you know...
Well, names that are a jumble of letters on a seller aren't always a giveaway - but they are a clue.
Also, folks don't normally just hand over 16 pieces of Primordial Saronite for free. Exactly how much do you remember paying for that? In game gold....that is?
This helpful FAQ is not only applicable to stolen gold, but stolen goods and the illicit real money purchasing thereof....
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/antigold.html Also, after looking into this a bit - few things you really need to be concerned about for your account's sake.
1) As you were already instructed by the Game Master you spoke to, you need to appeal this to Account Administration at
[email protected]. I see you've done this and you should be getting a response soon.
2) Account sharing is expressly forbidden under our terms of service.
3) Please check your email for a new password that will be sent shortly. You cannot gift, trade, sell or otherwise allow access to an account to any individual other than yourself (the account holder). Doing so puts your account in jeopardy of being compromised, suspended or banned.
4) Purchasing any in-game item or currency for real world funds is forbidden.
I would also recommend you look over our Penalty Volcano FAQ
http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20221&searchQuery=penalty%20volcano&pageNumber=1 While we dislike having to take action against any account, our rules are there for all player's benefit. We can and will take the necessary steps, with increasing severity, for repeated infractions.
I do wish you all the best.
