Cannot create a character of the name "Aeus"?

In trying to transfer my character of this name, it seems the name "Aeus" Is no longer available.

The first few servers I inspected gave a "name unavailable" message. I then went in and looked for players of this name of both factions (via sending a mail) and the players were not found. I then went on the armory and scouted out several servers with no "Aeus" listed, to allow for low level alts with this name, and on all servers, this name was unavailable.

I realize there is a minor NPC with this name, though I have been able to create several characters with the name until now. Is this name (and other minor NPC names) no longer available to players? Very perplexed, and wanting to keep my name of 4 years. A response would be greatly appreciated.

That's not always a good test, although it can prove productive in some cases.
