Realm/faction transfer, name change messed up

I have a petition started in game but wanted to see if there's anything I can do to resolve this.

I did a realm change then a faction change. One of my chars on the new realm has the same name as the char I transferred so she was flagged for rename (which I expected, no problem). While I was in the screen to change her faction and looks, I changed her name and tried to log in, but it still gave me the flagged for rename. So I changed it (to the name you see here).

So I log in and my friend can't whisper me, or add me as a friend. They report a "character not found" message. When I first logged in the character sheet showed the name I originally tried to use. I tried relogging, the character sheet changed to this name, but still can't get any whispers.
