Faction / Server / Heirlooms / Friends?

Okay, so as a lot of people know, a -lot- of people play WoW. In the 6 years I've been playing I've met nearly a dozen people IRL who play and who I became at least somewhat close to, however only a select few of us ever play together, and for some of us it's not on our main server.

The problem I see that is restraining people from continuing their RL friendships via WoW is clearly the Factions and Servers.

Blizzard has attempted to exploit this, many people do buy Server and Faction transfers for absurd amounts of money, I myself have been forced to buy a few (and cannot continue affording it on the kind of money I make).

Another problem is the fact that Heirlooms are bound to your Faction and Server despite claims of being "account bound". So if you do want to level new characters with someone, you'll have to start the character on your main server and faction, give the character the heirlooms and then transfer him to the right server, perhaps even having to change faction ($55 all together. That's more than a new expansion, just to play with your friends.)...

I just think that one or more of these roadblocks in the way of friendship and WoW needs to be removed, I think Blizz has made more than enough money, and should start being a bit more curteous to those of us who have payed for the game and wish to enjoy it with others (without running out of cash IRL).

Exploit, Nazrian? Wow. It seems that you have a fairly old account so you must remember the days before the Paid Character Transfer system was introduced. I remember the requests made by the player community to introduce such a service so people who later discovered that they had friends who played on different realms could join them if they wished to. As it was players originally could only reroll if they really wanted to join their friends on another realm.

I'm sorry if you find the cost of the service absurd, much debate went into the pricing for our services in which we took a lot of player feedback on and that was the price that was determined. You yourself have never been forced to purchase such services, they are completely optional.

We also introduced a Renaming, Re-customization, Race change and a Faction change service as well. Do we charge for these services? Absolutely, we are a business after all but in each case the cost of these services has been carefully considered.

Tool tip descriptions can only provide so much information, this is why we include additional information regarding some items, for those who may be confused. These Support Articles can be access through the in-game help menu as well as online. Just enter Bind on Account in the search option.

What does Bind on Account mean?

Heirloom items are intended to allow an 80th level character to pass on part of their "wealth" to a new younger character. They are restricted by the mail system. Technically speaking, Nazrian, with the recent changes that were made in regards to the mail system you would only need to transfer a character with the item if you wished to move it to a character on another realm. Bind on Account items can be sent cross faction as long as the character is on the same realm and account.

Additional changes to allow cross realm mail may be implemented in the future but such an option has several technical complications that may or may not be able to be overcome.

I'm sorry if you feel that way, Nazrian, I believe differently. I see a company that has introduced several services at the request of their customer base for a very reasonable price. They also introduce free content updates almost continuously to provide their customers with an ever changing world.

If you would like to share your views on what you believe should be done, Nazrian, you'll want to post in the Suggestion forum. This forum is moderated by the In-Game Support staff, we make no determinations regarding current or future services nor of service pricing.
