3.3.2 - Where Next?

There has always been talk of how 3.3 would be the last major content patch of the WOTLK expansion. But with the time between 3.2 and 3.3 being about 4 months, im starting to wonder what they're going to do in the time before CATA launch (aside from 4.0 ofc).

Cata has not even hit the Beta stage yet (the current rumor of its alpha stage is still going around) -- and I would expect such a beta to last at least 3-5 months? ICC has been out since Dec 8, meaning about 2 months or so. That means, as compared to the time between 3.2 and 3.3 release dates, that there is only 3 months left if the next big content release is going to happen along a similar timeline.

If beta wont start until April (like some people say), what are we going to be doing for the next 6, 7, 8 months?

Even if the beta is released now, what are top guilds going to do for the next 4-5 months with 10/12 HMs already down?

You personally still seem to have a lot of raid content to experience in Icecrown Citadel. In that regard, one thing we'll be doing in the coming months is slowly making the content in Icecrown Citadel a little more accessible to the majority of the player base; meanwhile the more advanced raiding guilds will be working their way through Heroic difficulties of the various final bosses, including the Lich King.

There's a lot of content in Icecrown Citadel for those who like raids. There are plenty of bosses, a good deal of trash, quite the need for progression, and even random weekly quests which have varying degrees of difficulty. This is aside from the new boss in Vault of Archavon, the weekly raid quests in Dalaran, and the very popular cross-realm Dungeon Finder. We feel these features will bring enjoyment to those who like the PvE side of things for quite some time, allowing the average level 80 player to collect some great gear over time and hopefully have a shot at the Lich King before Cataclysm happens.

With that being said, we do have some additional PvE and PvP content and changes we plan to implement prior to the release of the big Cataclysm patch and subsequent retail release of that third expansion. We'll be discussing these new features in more detail in the coming weeks.

Will this be progression content, maybe in the likes of Sunwell? Or will it be something more like Onyxia.

As we stated before releasing Wrath of the Lich King, we still intend for Icecrown Citadel to be the final raid of the expansion in terms of tiered progression.

With all due respect, bluey, you seem to be underestimating the top raiding guilds, even those only considered top on their home servers.
They'll have every last bit of Wrath covered within a couple of months at most.

Compared to the number of players who saw or came close to completing the original Naxxramas or Sunwell, that's actually a promising statistic if you're correct. We've said numerous times we didn't like spending so much development time on Naxxramas or Sunwell so a few thousand players could kill the final bosses. If a handful of players who make up the top guilds in the world, or even top on a single server, are occupied in Icecrown Citadel for at least another two months, you can infer that an incredibly larger percentage of players will find challenges here for months to come. :)

Please elaborate. Does this means that there won't be any raids with loot that has a higher ilvl than Icecrown, or that there won't be a Tier 11 set before Cataclysm?

Your statement was a little ambiguous.

Goal achieved. Working as intended! :p

Expect a fair amount of whining though on top of the usual bits.

I guess it depends on how one defines what you just said, but I expect such things so long as space-time appears to remain in-tact.

Puscifer, Zarhym? My respect for you just rose substantially :)
Not that it wasn't already high, or anything.

BTW Z. Your signature is awesome...polar bear is a killer song and Puscifer puts on one helluva show!

[Unavoidable OT] Seen the show twice so far (very different each time), not including the 10+ times I've seen his other two groups live. Pretty incredible and hilarious at the same time. His wine is really good too.
