Best Guild Loot System?

So ive been in many guilds, each of them using a different system for loot. One guild did loot council, where i was part of the council, and every time something i needed dropped, the other officers would be like your an officer, he should get it over you. Than i joined another guild, same thing did loot council, but i was just a regular member, and of course something i needed dropped, and the officer got it over me, casue he was there longer. DKP sucks because some people have rl stuff to do, which makes it pointless for them to even try to compete. It seems like the best thing to do is to pug and hope you roll big. Ive pugged alot and goten to about 5.6k gs with pugs. What guild loot system do you guys use?!
I don't think there exists a perfect loot system. I do believe there exists one that's most suitable for a given guild. For instance, I have been in two guilds which used loot council -- in one of them, it worked out extremely well. In the other, well it was horrible and caused the guild to disband -- and was the first time I've been in a guild where that occured.
I've even been in a few guilds, and am in one now with my Druid that /roll on items (with a few basic rules/restrictions of course), and that's worked (is working ) well.
Again, it really just depends on the people in the guild.
