Another Bryntroll QQ thread

I realize GC probably won't read and if he does i'm not planning on insulting him so he probably won't reply. It seems like you have to be openly hostile toward the developers to get them to even respond. Anywho, Bryntroll, Zod, and Nibelung all have procs, and besides the Bryntroll being very strong at first and then nerfed into oblivion i think the general consensus has been that the reintroduction of proc weapons has been an abysmal failure. I'm just asking for you (the devs) to re-evaluate these items and put stats on them either accompanying the procs or do away with the procs. The way you made the procs eats up too much Ilvl without the benefit of raw stats. I would please like you to consider this, and I know this is a basically a repost, but it really does need looking in to.

In my previous post I talked about dummy tests and honestly i've done quite a few more for longer durations and in regards to the bryntroll i'm getting almost the exact same numbers from it as i'm getting from ramaladni's. I really don't think they should be anywhere near each other. The bryntroll is edging out at only about 30-50dps if that.

I wouldn't worry so much about how much percentage of your damage the proc is doing. I mentioned that once when comparing various proc weapons and it became adopted as the design goal for all proc weapons. It isn't.

The only real salient comparison is Bryntroll to other two handed dps weapons of the same ilevel (or Zod's to other bows or Trauma to other healing weapons, etc.) Procs are always going to be more random than pure stats, and we can live with that. If you're very intolerant of RNG mechanics, then proc weapons probably aren't for you. If swapping from Bryntroll to another item on the same tier of content is a significant dps increase (taking class, spec and other gear considerations in mind of course), then there is a problem with the weapon. It's as simple as that.

Q u o t e:
Would this be determined by crunching those numbers, which we all know EJ has done, or is it a matter of seeing if all savy players drop bryntroll when another 2h drops later in ICC and realizing there might be an issue? I'm honestly interested in the thought process that would go into such a change.

We know how to get to the EJ forums. Directing us there isn't providing new information. If you have new information, please share it.

Just be careful that you aren't over-relying on A) hearsay, B) out of date info, or C) spreadsheets that might have difficulty accounting for procs compared to raw stats.

We're also in a world where players know we are messing with these items, so some individuals are campaigning for buffs not to make the item fair but because it's fun to be buffed. That makes us have to be slightly cautious. :(
