Death Knights in Cataclysm?

With the eventual defeat of the Lich King, the Death Knights will no longer have a purpose. There hasn't been any signs of a greater purpose in the game for them at all.

Once Arthas is defeated their reason for fighting will be gone. It's not a major problem for most classes, but there isn't any other class that is so devoted to a single purpose. You could even say that everyone but death knights are simply there to make the world a safer place, as each one has many storylines that could be followed - with the exception of death knights.

If at the least, can we have Acherus move down to Stranglethorn or something? I'm sure they could use a vacation, and would at least give them some sense of continued purpose.

Death knights still have a vested interest in carving their own path in life (or death... what have you) as members of the Horde and Alliance. The same goes for the Forsaken. There's always a reason to fight for survival and a better life (or undeath).

Will the Forsaken storyline progress in another interesting direction in Cataclysm :D Will the upper city of Lordaeron have cool stuff.

I think you can expect to see some interesting story lines play out when the secrets locked within Gilneas are revealed. Beyond that though, well... I'm not one who enjoys spoilers. ;)

Pretty much. I'd be hard pressed to figure out a reason DKs would care about deathwing. Their vengeance is sated. What else did they have other than that?

The starting experience for death knights covers this pretty thoroughly. Yes, they seek to destroy the Lich King; but they also seek to reclaim the piece of themselves lost when they were taken. This is why they realign with the Horde or Alliance according to their race's faction. They fight for the Knights of the Ebon Blade, sure, but ultimately they now fight for the Horde and Alliance. The troubles which plague either faction now plague the death knights. They were once gnomes, elves, humans, etc., and that part of them is not entirely lost.

May I ask a question?

Do you have any big plans for the Draenei in Cataclysm, or will they stay in the background like they did in Wrath?

Right now we're still focused on giving players a fun conclusion to the Wrath of the Lich King expansion and would like to continue discussion on the current game. We will be preparing a host of new information for you regarding Cataclysm in due time.

What about the Forsaken? o.o

Well we're not going to pull a Kara Thrace and just have the Forsaken vanish into thin air once their primary objective has been achieved. They're here, they're undead, get used to it.
