Name violation warning sent to me why?

I have had the same name for close to 5 years now on this game and the same name for well over 10 years in MMORPG. About a month after transferring to the server i got sent an e-mail saying that my name was in violation. I looked over the policy very closely and had an attorney review the policy since they are a friend and i am not in violation of any policy. I transferred to this server a month ago as i had said and was not flagged to change my name at that point. I had placed 2 GM tickets since neither GM had requested that i changed my name or made any mention that my name was in violation.

These facts show that the name is not in violation and my name should not need to be changed. I have tried to contact GM by e-mail and have been waiting 2 days for a reply. I would try in game but that can take even longer. Waiting for a GM reply. I just want my name left alone character should be named Bobbyieboy as it has been for years.

Q u o t e:
It doesn't have to fit in with the Tauren culture but it DOES have to fit in with the medival/fantasy names.

Correct. Names with boy/girl man/woman are generally not considered to fit within the genre, unless you are playing a superhero but that would be another game entirely. :)
Q u o t e:

It isn't? Or are you referring to the people who roll on RP realms but don't care about roleplaying? (Like OP, apparently.)

We do not require people to actively role-play on RP realms though we do ask that they otherwise adhere to the rules for those types of realms. A name that fits within the genre is a requirement as well as avoiding out of character (OOC) topics of conversation.
Q u o t e:

Because people stopped reporting. How well a realm is "kept up" depends on the community. If the community is apathetic, then rule violations will run rampant. Should someone there start caring, then you would see a lot of name changes :)

Indeed.
Q u o t e:

I have no problems following the written rules of a server. I see no reason under the rules that exist that my name is in violation.

Unfortunately, Bobbyieboy, we are unable to list examples of all possible names that would not fit within the RP genre they are simply too numerous. We provide a generalized description that can be used as a guideline. This is one of the reasons we try to educate players on names that they may have chosen when they do not fit within the genre, those who may be new to that type of realm may not completely understand it and we want to give them a chance to acclimate whenever possible.

In the end, Bobbyieboy, the part of the policy that matters most in this case would be the following.
Q u o t e:

If Blizzard finds such a label to be offensive or improper, it may, in its sole and absolute discretion, change the name

You are welcome to dispute our decision by contacting our Account Administration but that is the only point of contact regarding this matter. Good luck.

This thread has remained relatively civil so I am not inclined to lock it at this time. I hope it remains so.
