Hm. Can't transfer toon to new account.

I bet I did this wrong.

A friend has used my account to run one toon for some time now, and I decided to buy a second account so we can run together. Got the second account, but can't transfer the one toon. (Also changing realm to where my main runs.)

Blizzard's call center is fairly permanently unavailable, so hoping the forum can help me unscrew the situation.

And, finally, planned to get the refer-a-friend thing going as well, but my pal set up a guest account first using my Guest Key card, and I upgraded it to full-bore, so maybe shot that down.

Thanks in advance for helping me to pump even more money into the Blizzard till! ;)

To clarify, I had him build a toon on my account so he could see if he liked it, and he did. Now I bought a second account and want to move that one toon so we can run together (still on my dime). Double-boxing is allowed, I'm told, so this shouldn't be a problem.

To clarify, Heston, what the others are trying to tell you is that your friend shouldn't have created a character on any account that they or their parent or legal guardian was not registered to nor should they have accessed your account a

The character that exists on your account belongs only to your account. We do not allow the trade, sale or gifting of characters or accounts.

Your friend is welcome to create their own account but you should not attempt to transfer a character from one to the other. Attempting to do so can result in the permanent closure of both accounts.

I'd recommend that you use the Recruit a Friend promotion, together you and your friend can level faster. More information can be found here.

Still hoping that Blizzard will help me transfer MY toon from my original account to my second account. I didn't "share" my account. I had a friend run one of MY toons while I sat and watched (and laughed and ragged him for sucking!). I logged in on my account on my computer at all times. It is MY toon that I want to run on my second computer on my second account. (I bought a second computer largely just for this purpose, actually.)

If you are registered to both accounts, Heston, you should be able to initiate transfer. If you made an error in naming you are welcome to contact our Billing department and they'll see what they can do so help. They should also be able to help your friend with the Recruit a Friend issue.

I suspect everyone is telling me the truth, and will have to kill my second account and lose a metric buttload of money because Blizzard has a problem with me having guests. Sucks. (And, if I read the restriction against guests, I promptly forgot it.)

We don't have a problem with guests, Heston, in fact we offer Trial accounts as well as the Recruit a Friend program just for such an occasion. What we prohibit is the sharing of accounts.
Q u o t e:

(I do understand that the service itself belongs to Blizzard ... I just partially finance their ownership by renting their services into my home, similarly to streaming Netflix with a guest....)

The account nor the characters is considered to be akin to a movie. Think of your account as yearly pass into an amusement park. That pass is identified as yours and is non-transferable. You may visit the park whenever you like, you may even visit the park with other pass holders, but you may not allow someone else to use your pass unless under a specific circumstance.

The only circumstance that allows you to share access is if you are an adult with a minor child that you are the parent or legal guardian of. In that case you are allowed to permit that minor child access to the pass.

I hope that helps, Heston.

But his suggestion for help was to call Billing. I'm on the forum because I tried calling Billing first and they're too busy to talk to me!

I understand that lines are much busier than normal but the Game Master department is unable to assist you wish such an issue, Heston. I could talk to a car salesman about transmission trouble but it is unlikely that he'd be able do anything but refer me back to the mechanic.

Please keep trying to get through, they are working through their queue as quickly as possible and will get to you as soon as they can.

Remember my suggestion is also based off of your current claims that the accounts involved are YOURS. I understand you are looking for a way around the restrictions but it is really best to simply follow our policies and address what issues that we can help with.

We should be able to help your friend if you sent him a Recruit a Friend invitation and he didn't properly redeem it. That is something that our Billing department can almost certainly help with.

Edit:

If I want to buy a pass for my friend I'm allowed to do so,

Yes, Heston, but that is not what you are attempting to do. You are attempting to transfer something that only your pass should have access to to another.

Good luck, Heston. Our Billing department should be able to assist you to some degree.
