24 Hour Suspension

I received an email that my "account has been accessed by someone who is not allowed to use it" and therefore suspended for 24 hours. Supposedly I was to receive an automated account recovery link that I never did. I did change my password but the account remained suspended. I emailed support asking:

1 - Who accessed the account?
2 - How was this determined?
3 - Was any payment information obtained?

I never received any response and calling customer service had a recording of a 50 minute wait time. How can someone appeal a 24 hour suspension if no one responds within 24 hours? Of course by suspending my account I couldn't post to any customer service on this forum as well.

I would like to know the answers to the above question to know exactly why my account was suspended. Please do not post a generic response to this message.

Thanks,

The following response was written by one of our new teammates. Because they are still in training and do not yet possess a forum account of their own, they shall be posting via proxy through me.

Often, when accounts are accessed by an unauthorized third-party and used for malicious activity, a temporary suspension will be applied to the account. This is largely a protective measure, to allow the registered user time to secure their computer and account while simultaneously denying access for the malicious party.

While I would love to answer every question you have Infernsas, doing so would reveal information regarding our detection methods. Information that would no-doubt be used by those that engage in this behavior to better avoid detection. As for your payment information, this is unobtainable with a simple login name / password, and full credit card information is not available on the account management website.

That said, I would encourage you to secure your computer fully, to ensure no malicious software remains, helping prevent such an occurrence in the future.

Additionally, adding a Battle.net Authenticator to your account can increase its security even further, helping to safeguard against unauthorized access.

Queue times can vary greatly, Infensas, but at the moment - restorations are running at just a bit over a week.
