My friend (who's helping me write this as we speak) had his account suspended today for 'Abuse of the Economy' apparently being part of selling gold for real world currency. This is absurd. He does however have close to 50,000g but has earnt it all through jewelcrafting and buying low selling high from the Auction House, an easy feat in a month or two playing..
His Main Character: Sawknee of Khaz'goroth
Started playing 7th December 09.
He has an authenticator on his account, so he is the only one who has used the account. He assumes he was banned because late yesterday a lvl 1 toon was selling Uncut Epic gems for around 120g each, which is 10-20% below AH cost. (eg. he buys kings amber's for 150g, but bought 10 off this guy for 120g each, and did this for all 6 colour of gems and other stuff)... so after spending 15,000g on gems, and assorted enchanting/frost lotus etc stuff, he started thinking, "hm damn this guy must be clearing his guild bank or heaven forbid, stole one"... so we assume this person then went on to sell the gold that he recieved from these trades, in turn virtually associating my friend with the gold selling trade and getting him this suspension, what annoys us is at the time he was having a conversation with another person trying to buy cheap gems, and if he did not buy them first, then he could guarantee his auctions of cut gems would all be undercut instantly. so if he hadnt traded this character, would this other person therefore have been banned instead?
A simple check from the wowaccountadmin team or gm's would show all the chat logs, and show my friend haggling the prices with the person who sold these items.. apart from this trade he hasnt made anything dodgy, apart from giving 2000g to a person named Leonìdas (spelled witha weird i) who he had met a day earlier, which i guess looks stupid, but after a long chat with this person he seemed friendly so my friend helped him get his epic flying, after all 2000g is not much to lend/give when you have 50,000+ saved up for a rainy day ingame.
we've sent off all the necessary emails to the accounts department, but would really like this process sped up, as it is a long weekend here, and has come down with the flu, and is bed ridden presently. i understand that shouldnt affect your decision to try and fasttrack anything, but i'm sure u'll be pleased once ufind out this was all a big mis understanding.
