Shadow's edge bonanza? :(

Am I just dumb or is every single raiding guild with 25 people in at least 245s going to get a new shadow's edge every week? As far as I can tell, all you need to get a shadow's edge:

1) be pala, warr, or dk
2) have 50k gold for saronites (reduced by 2k for every saronite you buy with badges or your guild gives you) <--a lot of gold for most people, but if you really want to, anyone can make this in a month without an obscene amount of effort
3) 24 non-mouthbreathers who can do 2 puggable bosses in the 2nd wing of icc25

And the only limiting factor is 1 of each blood per week?

Because of the shards I can see that shadowmournes will be at least moderately rare, but before too long anyone who really wants one will have a shadow's edge? I already did 4 heroic randoms today on my alt that had people with edges.

I'm not that upset about it, I guess it's a good thing in a way, just really disappointing to see an important step in an epic quest chain (and eventual 3rd or 4th to BiS, or 2nd or 3rd to BiS realistically for those not on the shadowmourne short list in a good guild) already not that unusual even on my small server :( you never saw 5 people sitting in IF with sulfuron hammers on a med pop server in vanilla :/

somewhat off topic, but every bad and their mother having bryntroll too is disappointing. Something that should have been sindragosa loot at least

By using an item like the primordial saronites, Shadow's Edge wasn't designed to be as difficult to achieve as the Sulfuron Hammer. The hammer required the ingots which were basically a guild resource along with the tons of mats so basically nobody could make it without a guild backing them up. This made the hammer special but also not really feasible to use unless you had or were going to get the Eye of Sulfuras.

Shadow's Edge is designed a bit differently and while it may be expensive (which is declining weekly at least on my realms), it is meant to be more attainable and usable especially since there are multiple other weapons that you can get that are very comparable already and the Lich King's weapons storage are still to come.

Aren't you supposed to not tell us about the Lich King's drops until tomorrow? :D

I refer you to the post below:

This just in folks, the Lich King will drop loot.

With the addition that he will drop weapons. I think we mentioned that somewhere before, but I'm sure that comes as a surprise as nobody ever wanted weapons off Kil'jaeden, Illidan, Kel'thuzad, etc.

Honestly, my biggest beef with Shadow's Edge is not that the quest is so quickly completable...

it's that Shadow's Edge is yet another Melee-only weapon in the first half of an instance already inundated with Strength-based 2-handers.

Strength:
10 - Citadel Enforcer's Claymore (2hand)
10 - Ramaladani's Blade of Culling (2hand)
25 - Bryntoll, the Bone Arbiter (2hand)

Agility:
10 - Bone Warden's Splitter (1hand)
10 - Frost Giant's Cleaver (1hand)
25 - Scourgeborne Waraxe (1hand)
25 - Bloodvenom Blade (1hand)

So while Paladins, Warriors, and Death Knights get 3 options for 2-handers (4 with Shadow's Edge) - there are ZERO Agility 2-handers until Festergut-25, or Rotface-10.

So hunters are stuck either:
1. Still using their 245 glaive from ToC until halfway into ICC, or
2. Getting lucky on the hilt, or
3. Losing bids on 1-handers to rogues / shaman / DPS DKs because "we actually attack with them".

Honestly, if Shadow's Edge was going to be this easy to acquire - Bryntoll should've been an Agility-based weapon instead and have its proc exchanged for stats.

I think the melee weapon for hunters isn't that important and is more of a stat stick, which is why something like Zod's was put on the second boss in 25 player mode and that other bone bow in 10 player mode so there are upgrades a lot of raiders have a shot at each week.

Druids may have a bigger reason to complain but as the Plagueworks and Crimson Halls become easier over time they will have several options each week.

Yes, but stats are stats. I can't slap on Zod's Repeating Crossbow and then wear full T7 and expect to put out ICC DPS.

And it's a bit of an off-handed gesture to say "well, all your melee DPS will have their full weapon loadout upgraded to 264 pugging the first 4 bosses of the instance - but you hunters have to wait for your stat sticks until we implement the "welfare" buff."

There are several one handers with agility that come from the first four bosses and I've seen several hunters dual wielding them now.

And I never said you'd have to wait for the welfare buff, that is up to you and your guild/raiding group's progression, but there are a lot of people who are defeating at least the initial bosses in the new wings now.
